Yes, thank you. Totally forgot about the event. Foster spoke to Windward students, faculty, and alumni about the overall process of directing and how her beginnings as an actress have shaped her directing style. She went on to explain how directors are deeply involved in all aspects of a film from casting and editing to choosing color palettes and music scores. According to Foster, a film changes and evolves as additional people become involved in the project. Ultimately, the film becomes more beautiful than what one had initially intended. Foster concluded her talk by comparing being a director to being a good parent, noting that to succeed at both, one must encourage others to do their best while allowing them the freedom to reach their maximum potential. The presentation was followed up by a robust Q & A session where students and alumni asked Foster about her directing choices as well as her time spent studying at Yale and how it has been a lasting influence on her acting and directing career.
     Jodie Foster, director, must be one of the biggest minconceptions of film history and only the result of a nice, but admittely very good, hype by Time et al. which was cited and repeated again and again. One can't even say there is a specific "directing style", as mentioned above. In reality her output is three films in twenty years. That's a joke and even JF herself must be living in dream world if she sees herself as a director. Acting and writing is what she's good at. But even choosing a good script is certainly not her greatest talent. So why does a private school invite her? That people can meet Ms Foster! Isn't it great? Her equation here >> Foster concluded her talk by comparing being a director to being a good parent<< is funny, makes me wonder what it says about her as parent.. That's a rather mechanical view, not what I would expect being there and listening to someone who studied some philosophy basics. And here it is again, the feeling of a gap between aspirations and reality. |

That would ruin my calculation. At least it adds some Heisenberg to my predictions. It's based on deep conviction that AH wants a child. Everything Anons et. al. complain about, regarding her eyes, looks, face is so bad etc is due to AH's probably not so secret wish for having a child, something real, touchable and from this world, not an abstract symbol.
