Is love an idea? Something physical? Does it have a perpetual nature?
Please discuss.

I don't know either. That's why I asked the question.

Wow, that's a big question. I think there are different kinds of love. Boy, the more I think about it, the more inadequate I feel to discuss this. But I like this quote from THE COLOR PURPLE: "Everything want to be loved. Us sing and dance and holler, just trying to be loved." And I think love is the single best impulse that human beings have. The bad thing, though, is that people can corrupt that impulse in the most frightening and terrible of ways. However, in the end, love is what saves us.

"Everything want to be loved. Us sing and dance and holler, just trying to be loved." I can't argue against that. It would be very hard to argue against that.
It's me who is really the inadequate one to discuss this. I only have ideas of what love is supposed to be, something good, something wonderful, something divine.
An impulse? For me it's a feeling of safety, of coming home. But I agree people can abuse and take advantage of that impulse.
Love must be perpetual if it lasts long enough to save us. I like that idea.

Love is a feeling. I agree with you artfuldodger that there are different kinds of love. Love is chemistry. You feel it or not.

No, love you feel. If you feel nothing, there is no love. *sigh*

my daughter has a little mouse. She says she loves her more then everything. I love my daughter more then everything. Different kinds of love.

Love is sometimes referred to as being the "international language", overriding cultural and linguistic divisions.
